Inside LVMH's Olympic takeover; plus, fashion jobs in Egypt, Mauritius, Nigeria, SA

Hello again ,
The LVMH-Olympics kick off this Friday, capping what’s definitely going to be an explosive week in international politics (between the ICJ ruling & Joe Biden stepping out of the US election race). A question: What do national uniforms mean in this climate, and at a luxury-affiliated round of the games?
In this edition:
Jumia’s new leadership seems to have righted the ship — it only cost 43% of jobs, 71% of operating costs (and the entire food delivery business).
This year’s CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund is getting a fun gaming twist.
It looks like Takealot is actually reinvesting in Superbalist to help it compete with Shein & Temu, after rumours of a possible sale swirled not too long ago.
Plus, an interesting mix of roles available in Egypt, Mauritius, Nigeria and South Africa.
PS, I’ll be in Cape Town on the 27th with Creative Nestlings hosting the return of the Conversations on Creativity series! Our panel is on navigating the business of fashion — join us?
Across Africa,
South Africa’s Superbalist is gearing up to compete with you-know-who, Jumia’s prospects are looking up after cutting costs and focusing on 3rd-party seller marketplace features, Zimbabwe Fashion Week announced a 6-week streetwear accelerator programme, and OkayAfrica rounds up the designs Africa’s athletes will be wearing this week at the Olympics.
